When Church Kills Bill
By: Mizraine

A political turmoil that is how the ongoing debates of the state and the church work on the national television. The talks regarding the Reproductive Health Bill had become a national concern and have sparked of number of debates in the country.

“An Act Providing for a Comprehensive Policy on Responsible Parenthood, Reproductive Health and Population Development and for Other Purposes”, the title of one of the most controversial bills nowadays, is popularly known as the RH bill. One of the main concerns why the proponents of the RH bill want to push it to become a law is the ballooning population of the country. It is also stated that studies show that the Filipinos are responsive to having smaller-sized families.

On the other hand, the church, in their strong commitment to preserve life, has issued statements for the people to disregard the bill. In a statement by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, they shared that we must ask an expert to understand that RH bill will not solve poverty in our country. Moreover, the church believes that it would only lead to the abuse of contraception and might lead to other much bigger problems.

OPINION

RH BILL

By: CKizakidMe

Nowadays RH Bill is just like selling hotcakes. Reproductive health is the state of complete physical, mental and social being and the absence of disease or infirmity in all matters relating to the reproductive system, its function and processes. It includes an understanding of the biological elements and awareness of the social and cultural context in which sexuality, reproduction and child rearing are carried out.

Here in the Philippines, the population increases that’s why RH Bill (Reproductive Health Bill) is to be implemented. In which all Filipinos can use contraceptives like condoms, pills and others as long as they want, as a kind of family planning to lessen the growth of the population which is prohibited by the church.

As what the Lord said, “Go to the world and multiply”. That means not multiply as long as you want, but multiply as long as you have enough money to raise your children. In this law, couples must apply every step to lessen the population growth. So, depriving babies’ life in a mother’s womb or in other words, abortion, which is opposed to this law because this is a very big sin that prevents us to live morally.

That’s why, this law is considered as a complicated and questionable especially to us students who are students who are still young and innocent.

The Word of the World

By: Mizraine

Calamities, crime, internet and innovations-these are just some of the things that mark the 21st century. Factors brought about by technology made by man are of great use and have caused a boom to the world. But, man’s abusive actions to its resources have brought doom that has made devastating forces stronger and stronger. Can we do something about it?

Absolutely yes! We, the youth – the hope of the world, should be the one to lead this advocacy. But first, we have to be the better individuals than we are before. We need to unite and make a move towards these problems. For divided, we shall fall but together, we shall stand firm against all the odds. But how? Hundreds of countries, billions of people and millions of languages – all in one planet! How on earth can we develop an effective means of communication to understand each other in order to reach our desired goals through unity?

The key is having a “universal language” – this is what the English language is. A language that shall be used as a medium of instruction so that everyone can learn and apply it. If everyone knows how to speak of which, then we can communicate effectively with each other. Data, innovations and new discoveries will then be very much available to us – in all parts of the globe! The world, archipelagically divided will then stand as one.

Together, let us open our tightly closed petals and step out to make a move of becoming the better learners of today. Let us spread and widely use the English language – the word of the world.
