BRIEF HISTORY
Mantalongon National High School, a public school secondary institution, was founded in 1966 with one classroom, 1 teacher and 13 students. It first served as an extension school of Dalaguete National High School, formerly Dalaguete Provincial High School. The very first graduation of the school was held year 1993.
As the years passed by, Mantalongon National High School flourished with consistent growth and development. An expansion of the institution was built and attained its name as Mantalongon NHS- Dalaguete Extension Main Campus to accommodate more number of students and increase school’s facilities and resources. The school was manned by four competent, resourceful, dynamic and strong administrators from 1988 to present. The following were the administrators:
Mr. Luis C. Carin 1988 - 2005
Mr. Ramon C. Cortes 2006 - 2012
Mr. Roberto D. Moran 2013 - 2017
Mr. Robert C. Ceniza 2017 – present
When the Department of Education implemented the K to 12 Enhanced Basic Education Program in the year 2013, Senior High School was added in the formal education. To serve and cater the needs of the Grade 10 completers, a 2-Storey of 6- Classrooms Senior High School Building was built in the year 2015. Hence, the implementation of the K to 12 Curriculum also led to the increase of enrolment not only in the Senior High School Department, but also in the Junior High School Department especially in the Grade 7 level.
On the note of having a progressive increase in the student population at present, there is a need for a bigger space in room construction. As a solution, the Municipal Government acquired a 12,000 square meter land area and generously donated it to us for the construction of 23 classrooms located at Suwa, Mantalongon, Dalaguete, Cebu and called MNHS- Suwa Campus. At the moment, the buildings are 100% completely built and are now ready for occupancy.
Mantalongon National High School now caters to learners from neighboring mountainous barangays. At present, the school is serving almost 2, 300 population of students both Junior High School and Senior High School with 65 teaching staff. The school is part of the Cebu Province Division, District of Dalaguete I following the vision, mission and core values of the Department of Education.
